Most people's gripe about South Ken's graffiti chic venue Ghost INC is that it would be better suited to the edgier East End than the haughty borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Well, it seems the owners have taken heed: Ghost Farringdon opens this spring in a 400-capacity industrial space a stone's throw from the former Guardian newspaper offices - that's to say, about as east as South Ken is west. Like its predecessor, Ghost boasts a rather garish and kitsch décor: gothic lettering, graffiti walls, black glass chandeliers and bijoux mirrors in what could be described as the interior design equivalent of fashion brands Von Dutch or All Saints. The area includes intimate booths, a VIP area with a New York apartment theme, a dance floor and, bizarrely, a pool table entirely covered in graffiti. The cocktail list is impressive but not cheap (£7-£9) while ravenous guests will also be able to feast on American diner-style snacks such as mini burgers and chips. If Ghost INC is anything to go by, the bar staff will all be exceedingly good looking - as if they have come directly from a shift at Abercrombie & Fitch. The location is an interesting one though: Clerkenwell is renowned more for its gastropubs and traditional boozers. Although with the nearby Turnmills nightclub now closed and being turned into swanky flats, Ghost may aim to become the area's new late night electro house haunt.
