Harlem offers a first rate bar restaurant on the ground floor and an excellent little club downstairs. Arthur Baker is the brains behind this venue so as you might expect the tunes are impossibly fresh and the celebrity-studded crowd are unfeasibly good looking. The location in the heart of trendy West London reinforces the feeling that this bar may be too cool for school. But fear not…
International stars like De La Soul have heard about the place and will suddenly pop by for a drink, creating mayhem among the friendly staff as they try and create some kind of VIP area… thankfully no such thing exists. In fact the main selling point of Harlem is that despite A-list DJs and celebrity clientele, the intimate setting destroys all pretensions. This down-to-earth, party policy is emphasised by the drinks prices, which are fair, even cheap for this area. A real surprise, and the icing on the cake for what is basically a venue much like many others. Harlem may know they are cool, but they want to play with us. Great.
