Hide Bar

Conveniently located on the ground floor of the International Wine & Spirit Centre on Bermondsey Street, a stone's throw from London Bridge, it comes as no surprise that The Hide's cocktails are something to celebrate. This stylishly simple bar claims, on its menu, "we really like drink" - and so do we when it comes as good as this. There's something for everyone on the elaborate menu - from the exotic brandy flame-grilled apple and brown sugar concoction, to old classics such as Dark & Stormy, via special £4 Credit Crunch Cocktails and even a recently added Obama Sling. Both the wine and whisky list is impressive, while the lager and beers - refreshingly - come from the Meantime brewery in Greenwich. The bar food menu is simple but hits the spot - most of the ingredients coming from the nearby Borough Market. Hide's décor is understated, neat, comfy. A private dim-lit carpeted room around the back is excellent for private functions (do book if you intend to have a get-together on a Friday night when the bar gets notoriously busy). Staff are friendly and there is generally a nice vibe throughout the establishment. It won't blow you away, but you'll want to return.
