This second Lucky Voice venture on Upper Street comes after the success of the flagship private karaoke venue in Soho. The chain has done wonders in making karaoke an acceptable past-time, quite simply by letting it go ahead not in public but behind closed doors (the best place for it) in swanky private booths for between 4 and 15 friends. Touch screen monitors allow guests to browse over 4000 tunes, add sounds effects, layer in backing vocals, turn on neon and strobe lights, and even summon the waiter for more drinks. The bar is both inviting and well-stocked, serving smart cocktails and all the usual suspects by the glass or bottle. By confining it to an upmarket booth, karaoke has all of a sudden become quite a favoured hobby - especially for those previously too shy or cool to partake.Lucky Voice Islington images
