Mary Janes, nothing to do with the sensibly strapped school girl shoes but an all-day lounge and party bar on the Minories in the heart of the City. And because it's brought to you by the Mint lot - owners of the Elk Bar in Fulham, Koko in Camden and that Clapham institution Infernos - you can expect a full-on party; there's a late license and DJ tunes to get you in the staying out mood. But, seeing as this is the City, it also caters to the suited crowd at lunchtime and offers a far more relaxed atmosphere during the day. The all-day menu includes simple staples such as burgers, sandwiches, salads and ice cream sundaes. Interiors are cool with clean lines, wood and leather favoured by so many stylish establishments. More individual touches added by designer Paul Daly include a brightly lit aquarium, picture-covered areas and a pillar box red wall behind the bar displaying shelves of spirits for those enticing cocktails. Try the signature drink 'The Mary Jane' - a perfectly mixed dose of champagne and rose petal vodka with fresh watermelon twist. Or, if you're feeling flash keep your champagne bottle chilled in the ice bucket sunken into your table.Mary Janes images
