Freehouse very well received by the locals who include Goldsmith's Art College students and indie kids. Under its previous guise (as the Paradise Bar), Bloc Party, the Rakes, and other hipsters have all played here. Simple food like baked whole Camembert with Cranberry sauce is homemade, fresh and prepared daily on the premises. There's a comprehensive selection of beers including Belgian Trappist brews and a late license on Friday and Saturday nights. A relaxed and comfortable atmosphere permeates throughout with lots of huge leather sofas. Along with the Amersham Arms and New Cross Inn, The Royal Albert is helping to make the street a destination for going out - some go as far as saying New Cross is the new Shoreditch.
