Even by the standards of London nightlife, Club Surya is a completely insane, if well-meaning, project. Founded by a white-suited oddball called 'Dr Earth' (check out his delusional biog if you want a giggle), it claims to be London's first eco-friendly nightclub. What this means is all kinds of in-your-face environmentalism: there are silly gimmicks, like a floor that claims to turn the energy from dancers into electricity and pump it back into the national grid; there are also ideas that could and should be adopted by every venue in London, especially the minimal water use on taps and toilets, and the dedication to recycling cans and bottles. It's also a very nice bar/club, with a chic neon-and-polish modernity cleverly offset by decor constructed from recycled objects, including bottle chandeliers and a wall of glinting CDs.
