If you're in Hammersmith and you don't fancy the (slight) trek down to the river front, you can do much worse than have a pint in The Distillers Arms on Fulham Palace Road. What the place really has going for it is its huge gravelled beer garden which is packed with summer evening drinkers after work and on the weekends (often attracted by the ambrosial smells the BBQ). There is a great selection of draught and bottled beer - but be warned, the service is inexplicably slow at the bar, despite a large workforce. The pub menu offers decent pub fare such as burgers and sausages 'n' mash, and the home cut rustic chips are very tasty. Upstairs, The Regal Room is one of London's top small venues, home to live music, comedy and other events. Mondays is comedy, Wednesdays acoustic, Thursdays poker/quiz night, Fridays unsigned artists and Saturdays live music from an array of talent. Definitely worth checking out www.thedistillerspub.com for line-ups and more information. For those after something more central, a second Distillers pub and live venue has opened in Smithfield.
