- Visitor Information
The Double Club is a bar, restaurant and disco "where the Congo meets the West" in an old Victorian warehouse around the corner from Angel Tube station. But it's not just any old Islington nightspot. German artist Carsten Höller - he's the one who did the giant slides at Tate Modern - has teamed up with the Fondazione Prada to create this not-for-profit organisation where half the profits go to the City of Joy charity, helping abused women and children in the Congo. Opened on 21st November 2008 for six months only (although an extension has been granted until 11th July), The Double Club offers a unique approach to a night out. Club nights mix up live music with DJ sets from both Congolese and Western DJs. The music type and line-up changes regularly so check www.thedoubleclub.co.uk for details.
