There are several drinking options just a short walk from the triangular-shaped patch of grass that gives Parsons Green its name. Most famous, undoubtedly is the perennially popular 'Sloaney Pony', otherwise known as The White Horse. In summer you can hear the braying rugby-shirted drinkers from a hundred paces. Shudder. Walk across the green and you have Aragon House and The Duke on the Green, not to mention the Amuse Bouche champagne bar if heading towards the Tube station. But there's still room for competition. Where The Establishment carves a niche for itself is in its stylish, 1970s style decor and particularly personalised service. Ignore the pub-like exterior, once inside you'll find it's more of a posh bar conducive to sipping cocktails than a sticky-carpet pub. And, as its full title suggests, you can get a decent meal here too. Head Chef Karl MacEwan comes from the Michelin-starred The Glasshouse in Kew, no less. Specialising in comforting British dishes with a strong selection of meat choices like braised cheek of beef, Oisin venison or free-range Plantation pork belly. Brunch and Sunday lunch menus accompanied by an excellent wine list are enough to encourage all-day lingering.
