So close you can still hear the beeping horns and revving engines of the traffic in nearby Piccadilly Circus, the Queen's Head is ideal for some comic escapism, away from the trials of central London. In spite of the low entry price of £7 (which you can get for £5 by printing a voucher from their website) this diminutive comedy club still comes up with a highly amusing line-up four nights a week. The venue is cosy and exudes a bit of character, unlike the majority of soulless pubs in the area. On Fridays it's habitually rammed and consequently rowdy, whilst on other nights you're more likely to nab a seat. Plus, after the last laugh, the bars of Soho are just around the corner. The even better news is that when the Edinburgh Fringe comes around the preview shows are free - can be a bit hit and miss but a great chance to see some of the acts who could just be the next big thang at the festival.
