On the ground floor of the landmark Blue Fin Building in Southwark, The Refinery is a bar and restaurant owned by Drake & Morgan. Just two minutes from Tate Modern it's well positioned for a post-gallery stop-off. Design-wise, it's a mix of industrial minimalist chic with long wooden tables and benches, plus comfy leather sofas for softer seating. There's a big outdoor terrace overlooking Southwark Street - sometimes given over to petanque and Pimms in the summer. For food, there's a weekend brunch menu which includes eggy brioche bread with maple syrup, banana and fresh strawberries. The traditional fry up includes succulent sausages from Allens of Mayfair and it's surprisingly affordable. Lunch and evening menus include sharing boards and burgers as well as mains of spaghetti, chicken breast or steak and chips. Cocktails come in tea cups and the wine list is short and to the point with all the bases covered and some pudding wines in there too.The Refinery images
