Formerly the Princess Alexandra, Villiers Terrace on Park Road in the leafy village of Crouch End, is a super pub which offers something for everyone. Starting with the backbone of the great British boozer: beer - there are premium drafts and bottles of Meantime Organic Pilsner and Old Speckled Hen as well as DJs, live music acts and cabaret performers for those who like to party. There's also a tempting menu including free range chicken and roast dinner for foodies and a children's menu for families. The food is straight forward, seasonal and modern, complemented by a good wine list with the majority of bins under £30. Battered Chesterfield sofas, an original oak floor, log-lined bar, exposed brickwork, wood panelling and open fireplace set the comfortable atmosphere. Sparkling chandeliers, blue velvet seats, art deco mirrors and flashes of black and gold add intrigue. To top it all off, there's a garden and outdoor terrace, handy for (smokers and) the warmer summer months.
