Both the wine bar and shop next door sell over 275 different types of wine from across the world with a particular emphasis on France, Italy and Spain. Quality ranges from every-day drinking at under £5 to vintage classics and includes organic and biodynamic varieties; quantity is by the glass, bottle or case. Opened in 2005 by Brett Woonton and Charlie Young - who met at Italian specialists Liberty Wines - and Elena Ares, it's frequently busy-to-packed, especially at lunchtime, and the location close to Smithfield Market, opposite St John's attracts a sophisticated city crowd. You can also sign up for wine courses with wine writer and Master of Wine Tim Atkin and sample over 60 wines at twice yearly 'Portfolio' tastings. A private room for 30 is also available for hire.
