A stone's throw from Clapham Junction train station, Wessex House is a popular night spot where the area's locals can learn salsa, see stand up or dance the night away. Once a week (on Fridays) it stays open until 3am and serves up an eclectic mix of dance music and classics from the 80s. Staff are very friendly, queues can be avoided if you book in advance or arrive early and the dress code is casual (no scruffy trainers or football shirts; stag nights and "groups of threatening men" are banned too). Popular weekly stand-up shows by LLAUGH Comedy Club take place on Saturdays and have in the past included performances from the likes of Dan Antopolski and Shazia Mirza (Tickets ?14 on door, ?11 with flyer, ?7 early bird; 08444 771 000). There are also weekly Salsa classes on Thursdays and Argentinian Tango classes on Sundays.
