One of Shoreditch's odder venues, Ye Olde Axe manages to combine being an ordinary East End boozer, a strip joint and a fashionable nightclub. It looks like a typical shabby old man's pub apart from the pole and the bored-looking women wandering around in their scanties. At eleven o'clock on Fridays and Saturdays, it undergoes a transformation: the strippers put their clothes on, and the place is flooded with trendy young things in hyper-fashionable vintage wear, dancing to the cutting edge of retro sounds, with Rock-a-Billy the current music of choice.
