The ever-popular Zigfrid combines a cool bar, outdoor drinking area and a club space in the basement. Owner Paul Daly based the club part on his Auntie Kathleen's Dublin retirement home - though the words "dirty 70s porn version of the Sistine Chapel" daubed across the ceiling may not feature alongside the zimmer frames. And what's the strange sounding German name all about? There's a long blurb about it on their website but if you haven't got time to go through the extensive story, the gist of it is Zigfrid Von Underbelly was a Russian-Polish blueblood who came to Hoxton Square via a Berlin power station, setting up a place where punks could be at home.
