The Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre in north London houses a local authority-owned swimming pool, a gymnasium, a private golf driving range and this 5,000-capacity athletics stadium. The London Crusaders (now London Broncos) made the Barnet Copthall Stadium their home for two seasons of second division professional rugby league in the 90s. Today, the 500-seater stadium is home to two athletics clubs - Barnet & District AC and Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers - as well as non-league football club Kentish Town. Although it has yet to be approved by Barnet Council, rugby union side Saracens are in talks to redevelop the stadium. There is talk of installing demountable stands with a capacity of 10,000 and the laying of English rugby's first ever artificial pitch. Crucially, the plans would retain the stadium's ability to host athletics events. The Barnet Copthall Stadium is also one of the nation's athletics stadiums designated as a training venue for visiting teams prior to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
