The Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre, opened in 1989, with £1.2 million funding from the London Docklands Development Corporation and the Sports Council, has access to 25 acres of sheltered water. This westerly end of Millwall Dock gives city people the chance to get out on the open water. Located at the outer dock, the centre also has direct access to the River Thames. The dock's East, West aspect takes advantage of the prevailing wind and provides good, safe sailing conditions, even for beginners. They have a selection of fleets of boats to suit all abilities including Wayfarer Dinghies and Omegas. Regular sailing races take place Sunday daytime and Monday evenings. A variety of other watersports on offer include dragon boating, rowing, canoeing and power boating.Docklands Sailing & Watersports Centre images
