Lee Valley Regional Park stretches 26 miles along the River Lee from Ware in Hertfordshire through Essex to the Thames at East India Dock Basin. As part of the 2012 Olympic Games the park is being extended down to the river Thames, adding a further two miles to the green space. After the Games, the Velodrome and BMX Course will become part of the Lee Valley recreational facilities. Currently activities including cycling, golf, swimming, sailing, rowing, canoeing, riding, athletics are all on offer throughout centres across the park. There's even ice skating at the Lee Valley Ice Centre, opened in 1984 by Torvill and Dean. |
