Named after the former British 100m Olympic gold medallist, the Linford Christie Stadium in Wormwood Scrubs, west London, is used by one of the United Kingdom's leading athletics clubs, the Thames Valley Harriers. As well as an eight-lane synthetic track, the stadium boasts a covered indoor straight, full field facilities, and - since major redevelopment work between 2004 and 2006 - additional facilities for football, rugby and hockey. PHC Chiswich hockey club play their games at the venue, while in the winter the London Nigerian Rugby Football Club play their home games here. There is an elevated spectator stand beside the finishing straight of the track, while other sports played on the infield include hurling and baseball. The Linford Christie Stadium also hosts the odd cycling event.
