Created by E A Bowles (1865-1954), Myddelton House Gardens features many unusual plants and includes national collection of award-winning Iris. It was taken over by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority in 1968 who, with the Myddelton House Society, has been restoring the 4-acre gardens to the original Bowles design. They occasionally run special events where you can j oin the head gardener and discover the gardening jobs that need doing throughout the year. In spring, for example, there's a topical talk on 'The Magic of Soil and how to improve it in early spring' with coffee and a cake served in the dining hall of this historic house.
