Balans Soho is one of the best known and most popular gay hang-outs on Old Compton Street. Casual and vibe-y, serving uncomplicated things like all day breakfasts along with Happy Hour cocktails this branch of Balans is more of a cafe than the other branch, just down the road at 60 Old Compton Street, W1D 4UG. Crowds often spill onto the street, especially in summer, and the large windows are excellent for posing and people watching. If, however, you want some privacy, the slinky dark interior is perfect for settling down into a hidden corner. Extended opening hours - from 8am to 6am on Fridays and Saturdays - mean you can come by pretty much any time of day or night.
