The first Buddha Bar, established in Paris in 1996, set the standard for a new kind of restaurant-bar-lounge the likes of which we hadn't seen before. Still going strong, founders Raymond and Tarja Visan launched a new London branch of the widely acclaimed Pan Asian restaurant in Knightsbridge in November 2012. Specialising in Pacific Rim cuisine, the restaurant menu includes Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Eastern flavours, tempered for Western tastes. Set over two floors, Buddha Bar London is stylish and perfectly pitched to attract the beautiful people with east-meets-west interiors designed by co-founder Tarja Visan and architects Adam Tibbatts and Adrian Abel. One notably eye catching feature is the David Begbie Buddha, which is surrounded by art by Lorenzo Agius. The restaurant seats up to 240 people and includes three quiet and semi-private booths for small parties of up to 10 people. There's a relaxed vibe throughout but especially in the bar and lounge, a beautiful space which can cater for up to 100 people where DJs play every night.
