Café Brood has become a Borough Market institution since opening its doors in 2000. Located at the bottom of the stairs that lead down from the High Street to the alley by Southwark Cathedral, Café Brood is renowned for its freshly made paella served with grilled chorizo and crevette prawns. Cooked over charcoal in metre wide pans, it is a sight to behold and a smell to savour. The family-run establishment also serves marinated chicken and lamb served in toasted wraps with roasted peppers, homemade salsa and caramelised onions, as well as huge burgers (with all the trimmings), English breakfasts or an alternative Mediterranean breakfast of grilled halloumi, chorizo sausage, rocket, black olives and grilled tomatoes. If you just fancy a snack there are a range of cakes, pastries and light bites. Café Brood has tables outside and inside and is fully licensed so you can enjoy a glass of wine (mulled in the winter), Pimms and Sangria. Unlike many of the temporary stalls at the market, Café Brood is open seven days a week until late except Mondays. Excellent service and delicious food make this a popular place amongst those in the know.Opening and closing times for Cafe Brood
