Café Uno is a delightful little Italian chain that offers a range of wonderful fare. The interior is warm and lively and often enjoys a lively, infectious buzz. It’s a welcome addition to the raft of restaurants that line the Covent Garden streets and is the ideal spot for very tasty pre-theatre nosh.
They cater for breakfast and do some lovely sandwiches at lunch. However, they’re evening dinner dishes are really tasty. Classic pastas soaked in juicy, flavoursome sauces are a particular forte. A personal favourite is their meatball dish. Made with a special recipe the succulent meatballs swim in a pool of rich tomato chilli and garlic sauce. Their pizzas are particularly good. Incredibly thin and crispy, they make a difference from the chunky, cheese-filled crusts you find in other pizza outlets. Their seafood pizza is rather special. Free of the usual tuna mash so often found on pizzas, fish fans will be able to munch on exquisite tiger prawns soaked in red onion. There are plenty of options for non-fish eaters too. The Risotto Verde is delicious. A classic risotto with asparagus, leeks, mange tout, peas, courgettes and pesto, it’s deservedly popular with vegetarians.
They offer an extensive list of Italian fine wines which can be washed down very nicely with a slice of pizza or bowl of pasta.
This is a very nice Italian restaurant that strives successful to be a little more authentic than your pizza express. Recommended.
