Shoreditch's crushingly spot-on venue has recently invested a lot of effort in overhauling their menu and rebranding their food as 'street'. It's great. The menu is affordable, delicious and makes the perfect preparation for a night on the tiles. They also regularly run barbeques on the weekend, with wicked sounds at all hours of the day and night.
When Cargo opened it's doors a few years ago, we were prepared to hate them for running a perfect mid-size venue with an achingly hip music policy in the trendiest corner of Shoreditch. After a few years in business, and many brilliant nights here, we grudgingly admitted it is one of the best clubs in London. Now we love it... and the same goes for the food.
The Street Food Menu features a lot of fresh fish, chicken skewers and tasty, dipping finger food. Although it looks cheap you'd be well advised to order several items, so the price mounts up. They also offer generous platters, in particular a selection of cured meats that should satisfy even the most glutinous Junior Beer Belly. At Cargo there's always the bonus of excellent music with your meal, beautiful people and dancing afterward. We recommend eating in the garden if you get there before nightfall - a lovely spot.
Cargo. You'd think they'd be smug. But they're just good.
