It comes as something of a surprise to learn that the Carmina Caf?, located in the bustling heart of London's Marylebone, surrounded by big name restaurants and bars and situated right behind Selfridges, is in fact a completely family run venture. In fact, this wonderful escape from the buzz of city life has been a labour of love for the owner, Camelia, who has been involved in every aspect of the creation and day to day running of the Carmina Caf? from the very beginning. So it was Camelia herself who travelled to Italy to pick out the modern, uncomplicated furniture that gives Carmina its easy, laid back style. Camelia is also spotted daily, out on the dining room floor, taking orders and chatting with customers - who range from local Londoners to worldwide tourists and even the odd celebrity (Robert Downey Jr has dined here) - along with her smiling, professional staff in their red braces and green aprons.
