This cosy vegetarian restaurant is a bit like eating in someone's house - only with great food. Mains may include a selection of risotto with squash seasoned with roast wild garlic and saffron or capanata with roasted rear mixed in with celery and aubergine to make the caserole. Each of the choices are helpfully marked up for vegans and nut allergy sufferers - see (v) = vegan (n!) = contains nuts. It's a good option for lunch with a deli plate and very reasonably priced sandwiches, some of which are served hot in Piadina (Italian flatbread). Its location close to the Barbican also makes it convient for eating out before or after a trip to the theatre. But the real draw is in the quality of the cooking, it's the clever food combinations which put Carnevale way up there - as high as top five vegetarian restaurants in the city.
