Chai Wu, a modern Chinese restaurant on the fifth floor of Harrods, is an opulent enclosed space adjacent to Shoe Heaven in the famous Knightsbridge department store. Seating up to 90 guests the restaurant's menu has been devised by a speciality Chinese chef and overseen by Ian Pengelley, group executive chef, who is considered to be one of the UK's leading experts in Oriental cuisine. Together they have created a diverse menu of exquisite Chinese cuisine, incorporating speciality and luxury ingredients throughout. To start, there's a selection of soups, expertly made dim sum, small dishes such as Chilean seabass dumpling with gold leaf, and Wagyu and black pepper puff. Signature plates and specialities include Beijing duck, Alaskan king crab with soy glaze, and lotus root and lily bulb in a spicy toban sauce.
