"You go first", "No, you", that's the polite kind of thing we expect at Japanese restaurant Chotto Matte whose name translates as "please wait a moment". Created by Kurt Zdesar (the man who brought Nobu to London and set up the Ping Pong dim sum chain) Chotto Matte is spread across three floors with four distinct areas: a lounge, sushi bar, robata grill and a 180 cover restaurant. Fresh and high quality Japanese food inspired by Nikkei cuisine, a hybrid of Japanese and Peruvian cultures. The menu has been created by executive chef Jordon Sclare and includes an a-la-carte menu filled with sharing with dishes like avocado tempura with smoked purple potato, BBQ pork belly nashi pear salsa and grilled baby chicken with spicy pomegranate salsa as well as BBQ specialties from the Robata grill. There's a selection of fresh, sustainably sourced sushi created by head sushi chef Keita Sato and the menu also features a Nikkei tasting menu of seven courses for 40 pounds. As well as the food guests can also choose from a large collection of fine wines, sakes, shochu and premium Japanese whiskies. Andy Martin's interior design fuses natural materials such as lava stone and burnt cedar with art inspired by Tokyo's contemporary urban culture. In addition to the vast a la carte menu, guests can now also enjoy a special pre-theatre menu, as well as brunch every Sunday!
