This listed Georgian building has had many past incarnations; it's been an excise office, a pub called the Jamaica Tavern, and even the offices for the Dock Superintendent and his staff - hence the 'Dockmaster's House' name. From February 2009, however, it opens as an Indian restaurant, with dining rooms, three bars and a garden with a stylish conservatory. Sumptuous and spicy Indian dishes include starters of charcoal grilled saffron prawns and green tandoori drumsticks, followed by a main of tamarind baked halibut or coconut chilli beef. Finish with a simple dessert of a selection of sorbets to clear the palate.
