This Japanese restaurant is a popular dining spot in Soho, their set lunches and daily specials make for easy ordering and their authentic dishes are prepared with skill. Donzoko's skilled chefs transport the true taste of Tokyo to Soho in this tiny restaurant tucked away behind Regent Street. It is often likened to a traditional 'izakaya' which is Japanese for tavern. You will find no pretentions here, the furniture is bamboo, the walls are covered with Japanese writing and the staff (all Japanese) will happily assist you with your choices. The garlic aubergine and miso sauce comes highly praised, as does the crispy tempura vegetables. There are fresh sashimi and sizzling teriyaki dishes or for the culinary adventurers the menu has Japanese delicacies such as chickens feet and hearts. They also have a long list of sakes to quench your thirst. Donzoko only seats around 30 people so it fills up quickly and booking is advised if you want to ensure you get a table.
