Notting Hill's Dragoncello Restaurant has charged itself with an exciting task - taking Italian dining to a whole new level. London restaurants are ten a penny in London so it was important to Naples businessman Tobia Sperenza to create something utterly unique in what is probably London's most discerning dining enclave. Dragoncello is an exercise in combining the comfort and homeliness of traditional Italian restaurants with a more sophisticated and creative take on the nation's favourite cuisine. So while the interior is cosy and warm with a casual, boutique feel, as much suited to chilled lunches with colleagues as to romantic candlelit dinners, the food, created by award winning Sardinian chef Monserrato Marini, is elegant and refined, of a standard sure to win the notice of those most important restaurant guides. Marini brings together traditional Italian dishes with interesting European fusions on menu, offered alongside a very good wine list.
