Eat East appears from the outside to be an attractive, run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant, with a bland pastel decor and small bar dividing a comfortable Dining Hall. Subtle touches like the smart modern design of the furniture and the calm, atmosphere are things you only notice when you come in for a meal.
There is a similar attention to detail taken with the menu. Although offering very little that is not on the menus of every restaurant in Chinatown, it far shorter than the huge lists that you get in most Chinese restaurants, with much of the dross removed. The chef's specialities were easy to identify, and well worth choosing, the highlights of a meal that showed just how good cheap-and-cheerful Chinese food can be.
