Tiny Latino restaurant and café tucked away behind Borough tube which is much loved by local office workers and residents. Owned and run by a lovely Chilean lady called Stella Garcia, El Vergel's much acclaimed food is always fresh and delicious, with the low prices and hearty portions offering great value for money. Renowned for its steak sandwiches with guacamole and village bread, its excellent salsa, tacos and tortillas and its fine array of beans. El Vergel offers both a takeaway and catering service. Warning: it can get very busy at peak hours during the week and closes at 3pm. On the weekend it opens at 10.30am and not 8am.
