Hidden away in the basement of the London Guards Hotel is one of the best Russian places in town. The décor is a little eastern bloc, crowned with a TV blasting away in the background, but the place has real charm and serves some excellent authentic dishes from Russia and Armenia. The service is friendly and helpful, and includes complimentary vodka and regular offers of the superb bread basket. The starters feature such delights as herring and fish soup and the mains are a little heavier but superbly cooked. The rabbit fillet with mushroom sauce is outstanding, and dishes like mince and cabbage rolls are homely and delicious. Erebuni is an obscure and brilliant restaurant.
