"London's best value prix fixe!" screams the website and, irritating though it is when somebody makes this kind of grand claim, there are few who can compete with the Galvin brothers when it comes to getting the maximum amount of bang for your buck. Simplicity is the name of the game here, for though both brothers have worked at Michelin-starred restaurants, their bistro is an attempt to make great food accessible to people outside the pinstripe suit brigade. And they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. The menu is familiar from any small Parisian restaurant - steak tartare, assiette of veal, roast duck breast with savoy cabbage - but the execution puts the French to shame, with a commitment to perfection that you would normally expect to pay through the nose for. Apart from the inevitable difficulty of getting a table, there is no reason whatsoever for you not to have already been to this wonderful restaurant.
