Just a few yards from Kew Gardens Tube station, The Glasshouse is something of an institution in this leafy West London suburb. Owned by Nigel Platts-Martin and Bruce Poole, the team behind Chez Bruce in Wandsworth and La Trompette in Chiswick, they have a well deserved reputation for delivering excellent quality food to London's more genial outer reaches, making the trip to the 'burbs well worth the effort. Locals love this neighbourhood restaurant for saving them the trip into town. The food is modern European, drawing on French and Spanish traditions so your spaghetti of rabbit might come with chanterelles, shallot cream and parmesan cheese followed by roast chicken with crushed celeriac, carrot puree, capers, cornichons and mustard. Leave room for a perfectly creamy creme brulee or a plate of cheeses sourced from London's finest suppliers at Neal's Yard and La Fromagerie.
