This diminutive pub is famous for its resident Grenadier who not only gave his name to the place but continues to haunt it too. The story goes that the soldier was tortured to death by his comrades for cheating in a card game. This spooky heritage hasn't put the punters off drinking here and you can get a good variety of hand pumped ales - Courage Best, Morland Old Speckled Hen and Marston's Pedigree - as well as fairly average food in the small restaurant, divided into two rooms at the back. Not the easiest of pubs to find, its tucked away down a series of quiet residential streets, but head from Hyde Park Corner in the direction of Old Barrack Yard and you'll soon see the red and blue sentry box outside and the face of the grenadier himself looking down from the pub sign.
