Led by Michelin-starred head chef Tong Chee Hwee, HKK offers special occasion Chinese food in understated surroundings. The offshoot of the highly rated Hakkasan - which itself has held a Michelin star since 2003 - HKK's 12 course tasting menu is obligatory for the evening but small portions mean you won't be over-faced. The food is excellent and some dishes outstanding, the abalone, dover sole and beef with a bun are all superb, and melt in your mouth Peking duck as good as any you'll find in Beijing. It's expensive (by which we mean VERY expensive) but HKK comes highly recommended for a special evening out. Everything about the restaurant, from the discrete front - which only has a number, no name or sign - to the unhurried staff and tasteful decor, is understated, sophisticated and elegant.
