This is modern Asian fusion food in the heart of Chinatown, Haozhan's sleek decor and innovative menu offer something a little different from the norm. Haozhan was one of the first places to venture away from the standard Chinese restaurant model that most of the neighbouring competitors follow.
The interior is stylish and modern, dark wood furnishings are reflected in the mirrored walls, lit up by touches of jade green and warm red candlelight.
The food, whilst probably not the most authentic in Chinatown, is contemporary Oriental fusion. The chefs draw on Malaysian, Thai and even Japanese methods and blend to create exciting new flavours. Try the curry soft-shell crab, which is deep-fried in light red chilli batter or the popular champagne baked black cod with buttered honey sauce. Sample one of the many tofu dishes, they make their own here at Haozhan. They also have quite a sophisticated wine list and range of cocktails. It can get quite busy, pulling in the Leicester square crowd and the theatre goers, so reservations are a good idea.
