This branch of the Haz chain is the smartest of the three and represents a genre of dining quite rare to London, upmarket formal Turkish. At just 3 minutes walk, the location is very handy if you find yourself famished at Liverpool station. It is considerably different in ambiance from the many Turkish cafes that line the streets of Dalston just a few miles up the road. The decor is pleasant and professional and the food is executed in a style more familiar with modern minimalist cooking. But don't be put off, Haz still manages to retain all that is great about Turkish food, the mains are really good value and you will find many satisfying classics like bakla (braised broad beans with yoghurt, coriander and dill) and hearty meat shish cooked up fresh on the charcoal grill. They also do a very affordable mixed meze for ?6.95.
