Giant portions, fresh ingredients and a tasty full-bodied house wine: this is everything a neighbourhood Italian restarant should be, and still only a fraction more expensive than Pizza Express. The menu is gigantic, with 50 or so pizza and pasta dishes, as well as superb seafood and some more expensive daily specialities.
If prices seem a little high for this to be a truly 'budget' experience, remember that the starters are the size of most restaurants' main courses and the mains are on a truly operatic scale - Pavarotti himself might struggle to get through three courses. The gorgeous, simple combinations of flavours are a reminder of what Italian food should be about and a continuous encouragement to overreat. Not only a great local restaurant, but well worth travelling for.
