This Marylebone restaurant has long been an Italian but now it's under new ownership - that of Arjun Waney who is also responsible for bringing us such well respected London restaurants as Zuma, Roka and La Petite Maison. As you'd expect from such a pedigree, the place is easy on the eye with a chic bar above the simple basement restaurant with its oven fire ready for pizza baking. Giles Coren writing in the Times described it as "a good place to loll with a pal in the cool basement while the pavement swelters above," not such a great place for a date. The Independent noticed, "a very Italian sense of chaos" about the place which is ideal if you're looking for "fresh, colourful, crowd-pleasing Italian food". The prices are reasonable and the ingredients fresh, a perfectly pleasant way to enjoy an Italian feast with friends or family.Il Baretto images
