A Mexican and Polish restaurant with a French name. Could this just work? It's certainly an odd combination on paper but don't judge this place by how it looks in writing. The reality is a lot more appealing. There's a kitsch, family feel to the place which makes for a friendly if slightly hushed atmosphere. Even if you don't like Mexican or Polish food, it's worth going along just for the experience. There's an emphasis on Eastern European dishes which include pancakes with chicken, sour cream and almonds as well as Golubki (stuffed cabbage) and Pierogi - filled Slavic dumplings ranging from sweet to salty to spicy. The Mexican side of things means you also get a choice of nachos, spicy enchiladas and burritos. This is a one-of-a-kind which is, thankfully, a world away from the Tex Mex school of chain restaurants. It's old fashioned 1970s decor makes it the type of place that fits in well with this picturesque corner of Mayfair - it's also very reasonable given the postcode. Vegetarians may struggle to find something to eat but don't go for the food, go for the unique experience.
