La Genova claims to be the oldest Italian restaurant in Mayfair and it certainly retains some of the dining styles of previous decades, particularly the 1970s. The food originates from the North-Western Italian region of Liguria, an area lead by the capital city of Genoa. Ligurians love their pesto so it features heavily on the menu and is prepared by the owner himself, so La Genova is possibly not the best place to visit if you're not a fan of the green sauce. There are good fresh pasta dishes such as the Panzotti al sugo di noce, salmon filled ravioli with creamy walnut sauce. The owner, Renato, often strolls around the tables talking to customers and doing his best to make you feel a part of the family. Be cautious with un-priced specials and fresh fish dishes or you might get a shock when the bill arrives. La Genova's prices are steep even by Mayfair's standards.
