It all started with a loaf. Not just any loaf. Belgian chef Alain Coumont was intent on creating the perfect mix of water, flour and salt. The increasing number of branches of 'Le Pain' popping up all over London - as well as the world - are proof that he's created bread-y perfection. From the original store opening in Brussels in 1990 there are now cafes from Australia to America and quite a few countries in between. This branch on the Southbank is a delightful spot to stop, close to the river and round the back of the Royal Festival Hall.Le Pain Quotidien images
