There's live jazz every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at this elegant Italian on Great Eastern Street set up by Alex Foley, owner of The Chapel Bar in Islington. Lena, named after Alex's Italian mother, is a harmonious mix of modern design - with green leather banquettes adding menthal accents to the wood-and-white palette - and traditional Italian fare; exactly the type of thing that will appeal to Shoreditch sensibilities. It's in the heart of the action opposite the achingly hip Hoxton Hotel. Downstairs you can enjoy a Campari and Galliano cocktail at the bar while listening to the jazz, soul and blues. Upstairs, pasta dishes like roasted pumpkin ravioli can be followed up by a rack of lamb with pecolino and broad bean mash for your main. La dolce vita.
