Marrying the French traditions acquired whilst studying under triple Michelin-starred Pierre Gagnaire with the best elements of Indochinese cooking, L'Etranger's Executive Chef, Jerome Tauvron, has succeeded in making this simply the best of London's Franco-Asian fusion kitchens. The word fusion - recently associated with a typically carefree, experimental approach to food - doesn't do justice to the careful precision employed by Tauvron. Ingredients here are meticulously sourced and the flavours in each dish, rather than being a mish-mash of tastes, are clear and crisp. Smooth leather banquettes, discrete spotlights forming cool pools of light, and hints of soothing lilac create a romantic, uncluttered backdrop from which diners can focus on the food and drinks and each other in peaceful tranquillity. L'Etranger is ideal for budding gastronomes and loved-up couples alike.
Best for:
French and Japanese flavours, fusion with precision, romance and refinement.
